I Have Been Told That I Have One Leg That Is Shorter Than The Other. What Can I Do About This?
There are different causes of leg length discrepancy (one leg being shorter than the other). There can be an anatomical difference, meaning that the bones are shorter or longer in one leg; or a muscle imbalance can occur causing the leg to appear shorter; or a pelvic rotation can be present that pulls the leg upward making the leg shorter. Treatment can consist of the use of a heel lift, manual therapy including stretching and mobilization of structures causing the discrepancy and exercises to strengthen and lengthen necessary muscles.
